Shia LeBeouf stars in John Hillcoat's 'Lawless'

It isn’t quite a Dark Knight Rises reunion – okay, it isn’t even close – but an upcoming crime drama reunites Tom Hardy (Bane) and Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon) from the Batman movie.

Both actors star in Lawless, along with Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain. John Hillcoat’s fact-based Prohibition-era drama opens August 29. I’ve posted the trailer and a poster gallery on the next page.

The R-rated gangster tale is set in Virginia during the Prohibition and focuses on three bootlegging brothers.

Synopsis: Lawless is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel The Wettest County In The World, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.
