Jennifer Lawrence stars in 'The Hunger Games'

The Hunger Gamessold 3.8 million DVDs and Blu-Rays in its first weekend of release – a stunning achievement in an age when streaming services have seriously cut into the huge home video business.

The number tied with the first Twilight movie but lagged a bit behind the 4 million units sold by Twilight: New Moon, the first Twilight sequel. (The most recent film of the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, sold 3.2 million DVDs and Blu-Ray copies.)

The movie, which earned $684.7 million in theatrical release, also was a big hit on digital platforms. The Wrap reported that it had the biggest first day sales on Comcast of any movie in the past four years and had the biggest digital and on-demand launch in Lionsgate’s history.

I’m posting a couple of video features from the Blu-Ray. One is the home video trailer, another deals with special effects and the third video below has Jennifer Lawrence talking about how she almost turned down the role.
