Hollywood HeadlinesIt’s official, after a 12-year relationship, one of Hollywood's most successful relationships is ending! The founders of Miramax films and Disney studios officially announced their divorce – describing the breakup as a ‘mutual agreement’. Bob and Harvey Weinstein will be leaving Miramax films (which by the way was named after their parents Miriam and Max) behind, and launching a new company which is temporarily dubbed ‘The Weinstein Co.’ They’ll continue as co-chairs of Miramax until September 30th though, at which time new management will then take over. It seems the Weinsteins have big plans for the new company. They say they’re hoping to raise a billion dollars and become a giant, multimedia corporation, which may include film production, books, the internet, and possibly the purchase of a cable network. They already have some strong support too! Sin City director Robert Rodriguez said he’ll follow the Weinsteins anywhere the go, as did Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith and Michael Moore to name a few. Bond Girl Halle Berry says plans for a spin-off to her Bond character “Jinx” have been scrapped. She says she would have loved to reprise the sexy character in her own movie, but now she’ll just have to settle with hopefully making a cameo in a future Bond Flick. And “Jinx” isn’t the only character Halle would like to reprise – she recently said she’d love to return to the X-Men franchise as “Storm”, but only if her role is more prominent than it was in the first sequel. The Catwoman star wrote to her fans on her website, saying that she hasn’t read the last X-Men script yet, but that if Storm has a bigger part in the movie, she’d happily come back. We may not know who will be playing the next James Bond,
but we do know that Orlando Bloom’s dream of playing the top secret
agent is set to become a reality. The Pirates of the Caribbean star says
he’s been in negotiations to star in ‘Young 007’, which
is based on the novel ‘Silverfin’. The story follows Bond
years before he became a top spy, from his school in England, to his uncle’s
home in the West Highlands. Orlando says he loves the idea of playing
a younger Bond because he’ll be far more adventurous and do more
stunts. |
